Trade of steel and characteristics:

Hardenable steel, resistant to oxidation and corrosion.

The high chromium content combined with low carbon provides a good resistance to corrosion, subject to surface being perfectly polished after heat treatment.

Applications:

Moulds for corrosive thermoplastic material.  Chromizing is not necessary.

These two grades allow very high polish.

They are generally supplied pretreated to 800-1100 N/mm2 according to request.

Heat treatment(if necessary):

Heat treatment:

Annealing: Temperature: 780-800℃

         Holding time: 4-6H; Slow surface cooling

Hardness after annealing: max.250HB

Stress relieving: Temperature: appr.650℃

             Holding time: 1-2H; Slow surface cooling

Hardening: Temperature:1020-1050℃

          Quenching: oil or polymer(interrupt at appr.120-150℃).

Hardness obtainable: appr.52HRC

Tempering: According to diagram, to values between 800 and 1100 N/mm2.

Nitriding: Possible with appropriate tempering;

        However, this treatment reduces resistance to corrosion.
